New York 2017

It’s fun to visit new places, see new things and relax. All of those were accomplished on my latest trip, to upstate New York, scheduled to hang with family and see the low key sights.

Flying into Laguardia in Queens was an experience in itself. It was so crowded and crazy – not at all like  Colorado. After locating our Uber, we hopped in and went to pick up our rental car in Jersey. Why? The rental car was over $200 cheaper than in the city. Though the car was from Texas, and said Grr, it was nice to be able to drive around and not have to bother anyone. We took back roads from Jersey to Barneveld. Didn’t hit too much traffic driving around, which was great considering the holiday weekend, and it was cool to see the old houses and tiny towns.

Relaxing and laughing for a few days was just what I needed. The house itself didn’t have wifi, so it was as off the grid as you could really get. Seeing where Travis grew up and what they remember is quite the experience. It makes me want to go back to some of my favorite places growing up – though most are at my parent’s house or at Duck Lake, Minnesota. A quick recharge filled with good friends, Cards Against Humanity, Corn Hole, creek floats, and TONS was just what the doctor ordered. I was sad to see the week end.

After a red-eye flight home, it’s back to reality. Dogs were stoked to see us and it’s time for more concerts and the Minnesota trip ahead. Cheers!
