I won’t even get into the bad luck I’ve had already this year, or how much I dislike airlines. I’ll just start off by saying that we eventually made it to Miami and that it was a great time. I can never get over what humidity does to my hair. I’m pretty much a very pale Diana Ross. Beyond that, the culture and weather can’t be beat – at least if you like that kind of thing, which I do. We stayed with Travis’ parent’s which is always great. You couldn’t ask for better hosts or accommodations. Not to mention that spending time with them is always a treat.
One of the things that will be missed most is the Cuban food. Not the healthiest, but oh my goodness…so tasty. I’ve found a few little spots in Denver, but none that can compare to the real deal. Probably best that I don’t have easy access to it or I’d be in trouble.
We were there for just a few days, but in that time I feel like we crammed everything in that we possibly could. Trips to the beach were a must. Thank goodness the weather cooperated. We also had the chance to meet up with our awesome friend Marissa and go kayaking in the Everglades. Now, growing up in Minnesota, I didn’t often get to see a lot of different climates. The Everglades is a whole different can of worms. I only saw an alligator on the side of the road, but the birds and trees were enough to keep me entertained, not to mention that it felt like we were kayaking up-stream the entire way (though I know we weren’t). All in all it was a great time and I’d recommend it to anyone.
As always the trip went by far too quickly and it was back to reality. Boy were those pups happy to see us when we got home.
