Model call FAQ

What exactly is a model call?

A model call is a photoshoot where the photographer is using the session for something specific. It could be to take specifically styled images, practice a new skill or it may be a simple as wanting to photograph some new outfits or props purchased.

What will you receive with your model call session?

You'll receive a free 45 minute photoshoot. As a thank you for your time you'll also receive 5 print-ready, digital images of your choice from your full image gallery, with the option to purchase more.

Tell me more details around a model call?

The session will last approximately 45-60 minutes and will be between 10am and 2pm Monday to Friday. You will be asked to sign a release form to allow all images taken to be used in my portfolio, both on my website and on my social media. Most sessions will be done in-home (your home) unless we decide on an alternative location.

What do I wear?

We can discuss styling and I will send you a guide prior to your session. The most important thing is that you are comfortable and don’t stress about what to wear. Neutrals are great and I have a few items for baby in both genders and sizes.

Fresh 48 FAQ

What exactly IS a Fresh 48 Session?

A fresh 48 Session often takes place in a hospital within the first 48 hours of the babies birth. The sometimes can take place in the home depending on preference and when you are discharged from the hospital.

Can take sibling/family shots during this session?

Absolutely! Fresh 48 sessions are a great way to capture siblings, grandparents and other family members meeting baby for the very first time. We'll generally start with the baby and parents solo before bringing in other family members, but all are welcome.

What should we wear or have for this session?

You will be given a style guide that will prepare you for your baby’s Fresh 48 Session. It will include suggestions and ideas for what to pack prior to heading in for you baby’s delivery. Simple, neutral pieces are definitely recommended so your baby and family are the focus and not the clothes you wear.

Newborn FAQ

When is the best time to take newborn photos?

Within the first 14 days is good, days 7-10 are ideal. This is when you’ve had time to heal from birth, and your milk has come in so your baby can eat more and sleep longer stretches. At this age, the baby is also more flexible for those adorable posed images and still has his/her newborn peach fuzz, which is oh so cute!

Is your baby older? That’s okay too. The important thing is to capture those memories and keep them forever. Tiny fingers and tiny toes.

Where do newborn photos take place?

In the comfort of your own home. I look for areas in your home that offer the best light and typically aim to shoot in your nursery, master bedroom or perhaps even capturing big brother/sister showing off their room. You might think, “my house is a disaster,” but trust me, I’ve been there and I completely understand. There is zero judgement. All I need is a window that gets a bit of light and we’re off to the races. Plus, I'll send a guide prior to the session to help you prepare.

Can I book a newborn session with you after my baby is born?

It never hurts to ask! I book clients based on the mama's due date and I try to book in advance. Sometimes I will have last-minute openings, but I always suggest securing your session several months before your estimated due date. I understand things happen, so reach out and I'll do my best to get you in :)

Can other family members be involved with newborn photos?

Absolutely! The more the merrier. Kids, husband, and family pets are all welcome in your newborn shoot. We'll discuss your wants and needs prior to the session, as well as what you are hoping to capture.

Milestones & Older Babies FAQ

What sessions do you offer for older babies?

Once your baby is out of the newborn phase, there are a number of stages that I'd suggest taking photos. These stages are often called "milestones". These occur when baby has a series of firsts - When they can first rollover, sit, walk, have a birthday, etc. This age group runs the gamut, but the important thing for mom is capturing those memories and that special stage of life.

What if my baby is fussy during my session?

I try to take things at the child's pace. I don't rush things and I generally let them lead the shoot. If things take a terrible turn we can try our best, see what we get, but there is occasion where we just have to try another day. Things happen, I understand that. The important thing is that you don't stress and know that I've been in your shoes - seriously.

Membership & Misc FAQ

What does a membership entail?

If you'd like to have series of photos of your baby, from pregnancy to a year old, then a membership might be just the thing for you. At a reduced session rate you receive 2-4 sessions. Pick and choose between a number of milestones and have it all documented along the way. Sign up and I'll follow-up with you on upcoming milestones.

How much do you save with a membership?

My lowest session rate is $450. By booking a membership you save on average $x. You also receive priority booking and discounts in my online store.

How long until I get my images? Can I print them myself?

You should receive your digital images through an online gallery in under 4 weeks. These files are yours to print wherever and whenever you would like, HOWEVER, I do have certain printers I recommend using; your images may not turn out as amazing as they look on screen if you go with the cheapest printer. MPix is a good choice for prints. Make sure you backup and save your files! AND print them!
