Every year we try to go on a hut trip. You generally have to be pretty on the ball and book almost a year in advance – that’s getting a lot of ducks in a row WAY ahead of time and not always the easiest thing to do. This year our solution to that was to change it up and skin to the Pass Creek Yurt.
Privately owned, this is a quick 3 mile trek to get to. MUCH shorter than last years six mile crawl. I honestly don’t know how we made it last year. Three miles seemed crazy hard in itself. I’m totally a believer in mind over matter, but at some point I always feel like my body is rejecting everything I attempt to will it to do. The length wasn’t so bad and the terrain was fairly easy as well. I’m guessing the heat added a little something, and that I’m just a wimp.
Overall, the journey was great. Good to be outdoors, with friends, and challenging one’s self. Although I didn’t go out with the crew for long, I still did better than last year, and I’m okay with progress. It was, after all, forward progress. I’m excited to see where we go next year and push myself again.
